Hello and goodnight

It is 11 pm. My house full of pets and worn out TV surfing partner is finally quiet. No one needs anything. The texts and emails have stalled for the day. My adult kids who don’t live here any more have sent me a dozen reels so I know they’re fine. I’ve chosen the appropriate emojis in response. If I’m being honest, I sent a couple of reels back. Humans are so clever how we find ways to connect. New technology inspires our creativity, but the basic need to share stories hasn’t changed.
Tonight I’d like to tell the story about how Propel New Works came to be, but I’m tired, and we’re putting on staged readings in a few weeks, which means lots of odds and ends will need attending in the morning. Tomorrow night our Theatre for Veterans playwrights will meet professional theatre makers from around the country in Zoom for their mini new play development workshops. I’m grateful for the theatre makers taking the time, excited for the writers, but still casting some of their plays (gonna be a big group). More soon, but for tonight, that has to be a wrap. One of the cats just reminded me it’s time for us to hold hands on the couch.
