THE SPECTRUM OF LETTING GO
a full-length play
by Angeline LarimerTHE SPECTRUM OF LETTING GO began as a course project for MHHS as a play intended to be a vehicle for public health. It focuses on the opioid crisis, proper administration of naloxone, PTSD in veterans of the Vietnam War, and end of life decisions.
Its further development was funding by the Myles and Peg Brand Fellowship in Bioethics.
THE SPECTRUM OF LETTING GO has been produced as staged readings by Indianapolis area theatre professionals on IUPUI’s campus, the Theatre Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges Dept. of Theatre, and Vs. Theatre of Los Angeles.
It received a 2022 nomination for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. -

Life in the Pumpkin Shell began in 2004 as a creative outlet exploring the new medium of blogging.It became a support and advocacy blog for parents traversing early childhood diagnostics for non-verbal children. Over a million viewers read the post “To the parents of other Jacks.”

The IUPUI graduate certificate in Medical Humanities and Health Studies provided a bridge between the MFA in playwriting and a need to do advocacy work in health care. The MHHS program provided incredible access to the medical world, as well as valuable perspective on the multiple benefits for all professionals provided by an arts and humanities education.

Applied Playwriting in the Health Humanities
Angeline’s work is often at the intersection of playwriting and health humanities. She facilitates intensive playwriting workshops for special groups and nonprofit organizations that serve their communities. She has worked with students of all ages from grade school to professional playwrights at the nationally recognized level, non-theatre majors, medical students, public health students, U.S. military veterans, incarcerated writers, formerly incarcerated writers, and persons recovering from substance use disorder.
